Brian Kelly’s team doesn’t have another ranked team on its schedule. The Fighting Irish are 6-0 and seem primed for a 12-0 finish.A 12-0 Notre Dame team seems like a lock for the College Football Playoff, right?Well, actually, ESPN’s Laura Rutledge posed a scenario on Get Up! that could possibly leave a 12-0 Fighting Irish team out of the College Football Playoff. That scenario:A 12-0 Alabama team loses to a 12-0 Georgia team in the SEC Championship GameOhio State finishes 13-0Clemson finishes 13-0A 12-1 Alabama team makes it in over a 12-0 Notre Dame teamESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit was asked this morning about that scenario. He disagrees with Rutledge.“I honestly think if you have Notre Dame at 12-0, even though it’s Alabama…I still think Notre Dame would be in the top 4,” he said.Herbstreit added that he “can’t imagine any scenario” in which a 12-0 Notre Dame team misses the College Football Playoff.
