Minister Makes Annotated Gaming Study Available

first_imgThe province has released an annotated version of a flawed 2009 study into the socio-economic impact of gaming. The more than 400 page report contains notations that highlight numerous errors of fact, interpretation and methodology. The province canceled the project mid-way through because of the seriousness of the flaws. The release of the report was recommended by Nova Scotia’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy review officer. “People are now free to see the entire report in the context of its many problems and deficiencies,” said Marilyn More, Minister of Labour and Advanced Education. “I expect that any objective review will lead to the same conclusion that we reached — that the study is simply unreliable and should be cast aside.” Ms. More said the report is the 2009 study as it was received and cautioned that it should not be used to draw conclusions or as a basis for further study.
